The Premier League’s top scorer. Eight goals in seven games. 33 goals in 34 games at Anfield. Fernando Torres tore apart Hull City on Saturday as Liverpool made it six wins out of six. The hat-trick was Fernando’s fourth for his club and comes two years and one day after his first ever treble for Liverpool. The Spaniard grabbed his first hat-trick against Reading in the Carling, before adding two more (back-to-back) against Middlesbrough and West Ham in the Premier League.

Liverpool proved that they have completely recovered from their shaky start to the season crushing Hull City at Anfied. The star of the show was Fernando Torres who scored three excellent goals to take his tally this season in the Premier League to eight in seven games.

The lead lasted barely two minutes. The ball found Geovanni in space at the far post and Brazilian rifled the ball past Reina. The home defence was slightly at fault for Hull’s equaliser.

After some sustained pressure from the Merseysiders, Liverpool were back in front ten minutes later with Torres’ second of the afternoon. The striker collected Benayoun’s pass, and rounded Sonko and Myhill before clipping the ball into the net with the outside of his right foot. The goal was pure class. Torres’ strike even had the away fans were on their feet applauding the forward’s goal.

With two goals at half-time, not many people would have betted against the Liverpool number ‘9’ grabbing a hat-trick… and just three minutes after the restart, Fernando had earned the match ball signed by his team-mates.

The Spanish international raced onto a through ball, cut inside his marker and unleashed a left-footed shot through a second Hull defender’s legs and past the Hull shotstopper.

On 67 minutes Fernando Torres was replaced by Babel to a standing ovation from the 44,392 fans at Anfield. It was a five star performance from the Spaniard who made it five goals in his last two Premier League appearances.

Ryan Babel grabbed a late double as Liverpool went to put six past Phil Brown’s side. The Red’s goal haul at Anfield against Hull took their league goal tally to 22, the highest the club have achieved at this stage of the season since the 1895/6 season.

The Reds will now look to make it seven out of seven away to Fiorentina in the Champions League, before facing second-placed Chelsea next weekend at Stamford Bridge.
