Atlético de Madrid fought for the all three points on Tuesday night home fixture against Villarreal but goalkeeper Andrés Fernández made a Superb performance to maintain the visitor’s unbeaten. On the last stages of the game Soriano scored the goal after a counterattack.

Atlético de Madrid was clearly superior to Villarreal from the early moments. Diego Pablo Simeone’s men sieged the goal of Andrés Fernández and had four clear chances in the first half, forcing the rival keeper to make some outstanding saves to the shots displayed by Correa, Saúl and a double chance by Griezmann and Nico Gaitán.

After the interval the same song was playing. Villarreal only came out from their own soil in the last fifteen minutes of the game, when coach Escribá made some changes in the attacking line. Before that the leading role was for Andrés Fernández with a fine save to a shot by Nico Gaitán and two more from Filipe Luis and Fernando Torres. But the real blow happened 8 minutes from the final whistle, when Soriano scored the 0-1 in his team’s second chance in the whole match.
