Jose Mourinho put the Chelsea squad through their paces at Washington's Catholic University this morning ahead of tomorrow's Guiness International Champions Cup opener against his former club Inter Milan.

Having touched down in the US capital shortly after 7pm last night (local time), Fernando Torres the players faced a double training session, with the outfield players split into two groups.

Fernando and the five players who competed at the Confederations Cup, and only returned to training on Sunday, worked on a fitness and shooting drill, with the remainder of the group stretching and running.

When the two groups came together, it was on to a possession-based exercise in which the manager would halt play when necessary in order to offer instructions.

Another match followed in which first Juan Mata, and then Oscar, were handed the opportunity to directly influence proceedings from an attacking perspective by playing for both sides.

The Spaniard almost scored a goal to remember, but saw his delicate chip drop inches over the bar, although the likes of Victor Moses, Eden Hazard and Demba Ba did find the back of the net.

The morning session culminated with a warm-down routine, before the players were driven back to the dressing rooms on golf carts by students from the University who had been watching training.
