On Friday afternoon the coaching staff of Atlético de Madrid U19 side were awarded at Fuenlabrada after grabbing the Double of Division de Honor League Championship (Group V) and Copa de Campeones past season. Coach Fernando Torres and the full crew received were honoured at the Josep Carreras Theatre in Fuenlabrada -the town where Torres spent his childhood- as the Madrid Football Federation and the Coaches Committee held this event to reward all those Madrilenian coaches who achieved their maximum targets in the previous season.

After an emotional introduction by Miguel Ángel Serrano - President of the Coaches Committee - and Paco Díez - President of the RFFM -, the coaches awarded jumped onto the stage to collect their awards and posed for an unforgettable family photo.

Fernando Torres received the Prize from Pedro Calvo, who was his coach in the early youth categories. Torres collected it on behalf of his coaching staff accompanied by his assistant coach Ricardo Ortega, the physical trainer Daniel Iglesias and Ricardo Alonso, goalkeepers coach.

Fernando Torres expressed his satisfaction: “I am delighted to be at home, in Fuenlabrada. Thank you for the invitation, I am very happy with the recognition. It has been a very nice year, three seasons in the youth team that we have ended in the best way. I am very proud to be part of this family of coaches. I belong to a new group, for me it is a tremendous learning period, both as a spectator watching my son playing and on the coaching role. Knowing the toughness of this profession and how beautiful it is.”

“Taking good, firm steps, learning a lot every day. Watching matches, training with the boys, watching youth football... you always learn something. Now I understand how it is to spend 24 hours a day thinking about football," he said about his feelings during this first season at the helm in charge of Atlético de Madrid B

“We have the best coach we could have at Atlético de Madrid. We are very happy to belong to the club. I have gone through different stages as a player, in the youth team, I have reached the first team, I have left, I have returned and I have seen great coaches... and we have the best right now. I am learning a lot day by day. We have Pablo Barrios, Olympic champion and an important footballer. And that is our job, to have many players like him in the future,” Torres said on the stage of the Josep Carreras Theatre.
