Primera RFEF Matchday 11 provided the first reserve team Derby of the season in Majadahonda, as the Cerro del Espino stadium reached full attendance to support Fernando Torres' lads in their clash against Real Madrid Castilla, managed by Raúl González. The Red-and-whites squad made the first blood through a goal by Adrián Niño after a pass from Selu Diallo (25'), but the Merengues scored the equaliser just at the edge of half-time through Gonzalo (45'). The efforts to get the all three points in the second half were not rewarded, while Iturbe managed well to avoid a Real Madrid winner.

The press conference began with a message of support and solidarity to those affected by the floods in Valencia and Albacete: "We send all our support to those affected by the tragedy, these are very hard times, it has affected us all through friends and families and we can only send our support. Carlos (Giménez, born in Sedaví, one of the towns and villages affected) will depart to visit his family, which is the most important thing and we suffer for it. Carlos has been well, worried, but he has displayed a great performance. He is not the only one on the team affected and he has starred great performance," said Torres.

“We feel that we lost two points, because of the team's worth, because of the intensity, because of their willingness to go against the opposition from the early first minute... but at the end this point does not show the positives, which are a lot. We have to keep progressing, keep improving to add three points per game, which is what we want for the boys to keep on growing, so they continue understanding that the only objective is to win when you are under this shirt,” said Fernando Torres after the end of the game.

The Red-and-white coach showed his full confidence in the team's philosophy, as the locals were better in most stages of the match: “The team is performing very well away. We are coming off a win against a very important rival like Hércules. We know that Murcia are at the top spot now, we will see how the matchday ends. We want to continue with the same dynamic, of going out to win the games, being brave, aggressive, challenging to get the ball against teams that usually dominate through possession. And from there, our strength will show if we can thread wins. Eight games unbeaten are a lot, so it is a very strong base to build on, but we have to grow.”

Torres also had words for the rival coach, Raúl González: "I am younger than him, and everything that comes out from me about Raúl is admiration. He welcomed me when I joined the National Team as a child and treated me like a brother. We have built a great relationship and there is that rivalry between clubs, but I have followed him as a footballer, a teammate and there is no better representative of Real Madrid than him in the world. Facing each other is an anecdote, but it has been very nice."
