After living Champions League glory in May with Blues Fernando Torres made the trip to Poland-Ukraine Euro challenge to defend the crown won back in 2008 with Spain. Not only La Roja hit the target winning Italy by storm (4-0) so Torres got a place in football history being the one and only player to score in two consecutive finals of the Tournament winning both of them. Silva and Jordi Alba made the first and second blood in Kiev but Torres came onto the pitch to score a third a give Mata the assist for the last goal.

Torres was introduced with quarter of an hour remaining and slotted a fine goal -over legendary keeper Buffon- to make it 3-0 shortly after and then with five minutes remaining, Mata was given his first action of tournament. Three minutes later he completed the scoring when Torres squared the ball to him. Fernando's goal was his third in Euro 2012, making him joint top scorer and his assist meant he was the competition's Golden Boot.

These were the words from Fernando Torres after the game about the big win achieved over Italy: 'You can't ask for more, but it is the work of the team and the togetherness that has brought us here,' said Torres. 'You always want to win more and more, but right now we have to enjoy this. We have won by a distance against a great team like Italy.

'We are very happy. This was the objective that we had at the start of the tournament. We knew we were the opponent to beat, that it was going to be more difficult than ever and it has been.'
'We have dominated from start to finish and enjoyed a magical evening. Now we can say that national teams of the future will concentrate on us to try and make history,' he said.

'We had luck in some moments of the championship but at the end we will reflect on what it means in Spanish football history.

'Football can be just or unjust like that depending how you look at it and that is why we like it so much.'
