Liverpool stretched their unbeaten run at home to Fulham to 29 wins, but the point at Anfield was little reward as the home side dominated the 90 minute contest (0-0). Top scorer Fernando Torres was rested for the Premier League fixture at home to the Cottagers. The striker was left out of the squad at the last minute as precaution, due to the forward’s right knee.

Liverpool got the game underway, and the home side soon had the visitors under the cosh. A header from a corner from Agger struck Mark Schwarzer on the line. Ngog had a shot saved by the Fulham keeper, and moments later fired high and wide from a good position.

It was one-way traffic at Anfield as an acrobatic overhead kick from Alberto Aquilani was comfortably saved by Schwarzer and Maxi was denied by the keeper who saved with legs.

Mark Schwarzer was far the busiest of the two keepers as the Australian pulled off an excellent save to deny Javier Mascherano. The keeper had to throw himself across goal to palm away a rasping 25 yard drive from the midfielder.

Fulham were offering very little in attack. Nevland and Zamora both had shots blocked, but the visitors failed to test Reina during a one-sided 45 minutes.

The Londoners were happy to make it to half time at 0-0, but the tonic of the game wasn’t going to change as Liverpool pegged Fulham back deep in their own half during the second half.

Almost straight from the kick-off Liverpool’s Italian midfielder fired straight at Schwarzer. And again the Fulham keeper was on hand to push over an effort from Aquilani and the home side started to turn the screw.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Reds in front of goal as Babel had an effort blocked by the Fulham number one. Liverpool continued to try and find a way through, but to no avail.

Okaka almost stole all three points at the death for Fulham but his shot was straight at Reina. In the end the spoils were shared as the Merseysiders lose touch with the top four.
