Fernando Torres returned to the scene where he was officially unveiled as a new Liverpool player for the launch of his first book, ‘El Niño, My Story’. The Spain international proudly posed in the Anfield trophy room with the autobiography published by Harper Collins.

There was plenty of expectation from fans and members of the media ahead of the book presentation. The first to get a glimpse of the striker posing with his autobiography were the one hundred journalists, photographers and cameramen who packed the trophy room.

Jonathan Taylor, Publishing Director for Harper Collins, welcomed everyone present before officially unveiling the book to the media. Mr.Taylor spoke of the work and time spent developing the project and how and why ‘El Niño, My Story’ would be a hit with Torres fans worldwide.

The striker was accompanied by Antonio Sanz- an experienced journalist and Communications Director of Bahía Internacional. Antonio Sanz assisted the Liverpool and Spain striker in the writing of ‘El Niño, My Story’. Margarita Garay, the General Director of Bahía (the company that represents the forward), and Jorge Lera, Head of International Football, also attended the event alongside Fernando.

Following the presentation, Fernando Torres attended several members of the press in a series of interviews. The striker talked openly about his first book and Liverpool FC.

Next it was the turn of the fans who had been queuing outside the club shop located at the Kop End from from as early as seven in the morning. Hundreds of supporters had waited patiently for their chance to get their book personally signed by the Liverpool number ‘9’.

‘El Niño, My story’ talks for the first time about the unique challenges faced by Fernando Torres in his two seasons in England after joining Liverpool from Spanish club Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007. The publication, told in his own word, includes a collection of candid snapshots of his early years in Spain and life on Merseyside on and off the field.

The new release looks at Fernando’s arrival at Liverpool, how the striker adapted to life at the historic club- home to local heroes Steven Gerrrad and Jaime Carragher- the camaraderie of the ‘Spanish reds’, his experiences in the Premier League and Champions League, and what it feels like to play in front of the legendary Kop- supporters who took to Fernando as if he was one of their own.

El Niño, My Story’ is available in hardback, recommended retail price £18.99.
