Fernando Torres arrived at the national team’s headquarters in Las Rozas as the European champions prepare for the double header against Belgium (Saturday, September 5) and Estonia (Wednesday, September 9) .Maximum points from the two games would see the group leaders seal a place at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

The striker returns to the Spain squad after an impressive performance in his country’s 3-2 win away to Macedonia. The European champions fought back from two goals down to beat the Eastern Europeans in a rollercoaster friendly in Skpoje.

The visitors found themselves two goals behind after a strong opening 45 minutes from the hosts. Fernando grabbed a goal back early in the second-half with strike number 23 for his country; Pique equalised shortly after, before Liverpool and Spain teammate Albert Riera completed the turn-around.

Torres’ headed goal against Macedonia drew the forward level with both Alfredo Di Stéfano and Julio Salinas in Spain’s all-time goal charts. The forward now has a chance to add to his tally against Belgium and Estonia.
