28-01-2018

Resounding win in the Wanda Metropolitano for Atlético de Madrid. The Red-and-whites beat Las Palmas 3-0 on th second half after an Antoine Griezmann opener (60’), a superb Fernando Torres’ strike and a last-gap goal by Thomas Partey. The number '9' was on the line-up and played an outstanding 80 minutes performance up front. The goal was his 99th on Spanish Top-Flight competition. -La Liga Santander Table-

The match started off intensely and neither team was able to take control of the match. Little by little, we started feeling comfortable with the ball and began creating chances. Griezmann had a wonderful chance, but his shot went off the crossbar.

In the second half, locals began to dominate more and more and in the 61st minute came the first goal of the night. A great Juanfran ball found Griezmann, who beat Chichizola to make the Wanda Metropolitano celebrate in joy. A couple of minutes later, Torres scored an awesome goal to double the lead: Angel Correa free to scamper down the pitch and feed Fernando Torres, who shifted the ball onto his right foot and lashed home just his 99 goal on the Spanish top-flight. In the final minutes of the match, Thomas scored from a Yannick Carrasco assist.
