Brave Atletico on quarter-final after beating Leverkusen in penalty shoot-out (1/3-0/2)

18-03-2015

Atlético de Madrid will be in the Champions League quarter-final draw on Friday. The red and whites achieved the pass from the kick spot after tying the result of the first leg with a goal by Mario Suárez.

Amongst a great atmosphere, the red and whites sieged the visiting goal looking to tie the match as soon as possible. That was how, on 27 minutes, and after Bellarabi diverted a shot, Mario Suárez beat Leno from the top of the box to make the stands delirious. After the half time, we saw a very contested match with a brave Atlético that forced Leno to work hard on two occasions.

Finally, after no movement from the scoreboard, and with a Vicente Calderón with bated breath, the red and whites managed to pass to the quarter-finals from eleven meters thanks to a 3-2 in the decisive penalty shootout. Fernando Torres scored the last goal for the home side with a right footed shoot.
