Five-goal away win over Levante push up Atlético to third spot (0-5)

Atlético de Madrid beat Levante in Ciutat de Valencia 5-0 thanks to an own goal, a double by Kevin Gameiro and another double by Antoine Griezmann. Fernando Torres came into the pitch on 69 and tried hard to score the 6th but were denied twice by the keeper. With the three points gained Red-and-whites move up to third spot in La Liga table.

Atlético started off strongly and created chance after chance. In the 6th minute, misfortune for Levante turned into fortune for Atlético, as a cross ended up in an own goal.

A few minutes later, a master play by Ángel Correa was parried by the Levante goalkeeper and Gameiro was there to push the ball into the back of the net.

The second half was more of the same and in the 62nd minute, the Frenchman scored his second of the night. The match didn’t stop there for the Atlético forwards as just a couple of minutes later, Griezmann scored twice to seal the victory.

The lads, specially Fernando Torres who came in replacing Gameiro on 69’, kept on pushing for more goals, but finally the match ended 5-0.

With this win, Atlético are undefeated in 13 consecutive away matches in LaLiga, a club record.
