Liverpool will face Fernando Torres’ boyhood club Atletico Madrid at Anfield in their final warm-up match ahead of the 2009/10 Premier League kick-off. The match against the Spanish La Liga side will hand the striker another opportunity to face his previous club in what will be both the Red’s first game on Merseyside, and their last test, before the new campaign commences.

The friendly between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool will take place on Saturday August 8, kick-off at 15:00 hours (BST). The sides met for the first time ever in European competition in the 2008/09 Champions League Group D. There was very little to choose between the clubs as both games ending in a 1-1 draw. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, Torres was forced to watch both games from the sidelines after picking-up an injury whilst on international duty.

The Anfield club have now announced seven friendlies, including a tour to Singapore and Bangkok, as the Red’s put together the final touches to their pre-season programme:
