Torres back to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea and Atletico face last Group C fixture

Atlético de Madrid travel to London ahead to the last Champions League Group C fixture and the Madrilenians travel with a well-known player for the Stamford Bridge faithfull: Fernando Torres. Current Atlético’s striker was also the number 9 for several seasons at Fulham Road -from February 2011 to September 2014- and on Tuesday (19:45 BST) Blues will host Madrilenians in Champions League decider. Atlético need a win to keep alive a chance to get a place in the last 16 and Chelsea will fight for the top spot of Group C.

From 2011 February the 1st to 2014 September the 31th Fernando Torres played for the Blues 172 games, scored 46 goals and produced 35 assists for his teammates through 10.996 playing minutes.

Taking a look to Torres’ Cabinet Trophy, the spell at The Brige was the most profitable in terms of Club Titles as he won the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup. Some of his goals were crucial to get those achievements: the away goal against F.C. Barcelona the secured a place in Munich Champions League final (2011/12), the 1-0 strike to Benfica in Amsterdam Europa League final (2012/13) or the brace to Leicester City in the road to FA Cup semifinal.

Fernando Torres won also a place on Chelsea’s History Books in scoring terms. The Spaniard was the first player in Blue shirt to score in seven different competitions over the same season. Since the start of the 2012/13 path in last august, the Blues’ number nine has already scored goals in the Community Shield (1), Premier League (7), F.A. Cup (2), League Cup (2), FIFA Club World Cup (1), UEFA Champions League (3) and Europa League (1).

Until this season the Club record was held by Andriy Shevchenko, who netted in five tournaments during 2006/07: League Cup (3), Comunnity Shield (1), FA Cup (3), Premier League (4) and Champions League (3).
