Although Fernando Torres failed to finish on this year’s podium, the Bronze Ball winner from 2008 finished a very respectable eleventh in the final voting for the prestigious prize awarded by France Football.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi walked off with the Golden Ball ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished in second spot, and fellow Barcelona teammate Xavi who was voted into third place.

Torres’ Liverpool colleague Steven Gerrard collected 32 votes to finish tenth in the overall voting. Spain had a strong representation in the final list with six players in the top 28 footballers in the World according to France Football. Xavi (3rd), Iniesta (4th), Fernando Torres (11th), Cesc Fábregas (12th), Casillas (joint 16th) and Villa (joint 27th).
