For the third time in four seasons, Atlético de Madrid is among the four best football teams in Europe. The Red-and-whites took the lead in first leg at home and Saúl's wonder goal secured the pass away at King Power Stadium. Vardy scored the equaliser in the second half, but Atlético found the way to held the Foxes and almost get a second goal trough a chance by Correa. Fernando Torres replaced Carrasco on 69’ and played the last stage of the game leading Atlético up front. It was his first appearance in England after his departure from English football back in 2014.

Atlético de Madrid took the field of the King Power stadium with very clear ideas. The objective was to control the game and try to score to eliminate the British team. And it was Saúl who warned Schmeichel 15 minutes in with a play that just went wide. But the Red-and-whites scored on 26 minutes, after a cross from Filipe Luis that Saúl headed into the far post. A real wonder goal.

In the second half Leicester’s goal made the English team believe they could come back. Nevertheless, Atlético bore well the attacks of the rival to finally have a good outcome that booked a spot in the semi-finals. Correa could have scored in the final stretch, but the final tie qualified our team in the Champions semi-finals for third time in the last four seasons.
